If you’re a musician who plays guitars, then promoting them could be a very lucrative business for you. But one of the problems is finding a good and reliable affiliate program that’ll allow you to do it.
In this post, I’ll actually show you 5 legitimate affiliate programs which will allow you to sell guitars of all sorts (acoustic, electric, ect…), from the least expensive ones to some of the priciest out there (which will earn you high ticket commissions) as well as promote guitar lessons for very high commissions in the process.
I will also be showing a way to set up your promotions of these guitars so you get the best results out of your business too.
How much you make promoting guitars through these affiliate programs:
- Let’s take a guitar worth $5,000.
- Then let’s say you get paid 5% for each of these guitars you sell.
- That means you can earn $250 a sale.
- Now imagine making “only” 5 sales a month.
- That means your online business can earn $1,250 every month selling this guitar.
Now this is more than possible to do if you get approved by one of the 5 guitar affiliate programs below and promote them correctly. While it does take time to get there, the payoff is worth it.
Here are the 5 guitar affiliate programs I recommend you join up with:
- Guitar Center affiliate program (6%).
- Play Guitar affiliate program (60%).
- Jamorama affiliate program (50%).
- Samash affiliate program (10%).
- Amazon Associates (3%).
Let’s analyze each guitar affiliate program on this list and what the benefits are of joining one or more of them.
I’ll also be showing you tips on how to pick out which of these affiliate programs is best for you as well as how to monetize with them correctly since I am in the affiliate marketing business (See my affiliate income reports).
1) Guitar Center affiliate program:
Official affiliate sign up page: Guitarcenter.com
Affiliate commission rate: 6%.
Cookie length: Up to 14 days.
Description: Guitar Center is one of the top known websites that sells guitars of all sorts and musical instruments and accessories.
It does also have it’s own affiliate program which pays pretty well and provides a nice 14 day cookie period to make the sale, so every referral you send to this site through your affiliate link has 2 weeks to buy something to make you a commission.
2) Play Guitar affiliate program:
Official affiliate sign up page: Playguitar.com
Affiliate commission rate: 60%.
Cookie length: 730 days!
Description: With this particular affiliate program, you really sell high ticket lessons to people interested in playing guitars and in the process, get to make a very high commission rate of up to 60%.
Having a successful online business selling guitars is one of your options in this niche, but by expanding and helping people learn to play the guitar, there is a nice add on niche you can add to promotions and make good money off and Play Guitar offers this opportunity.
3) Jamorama affiliate program:
Official affiliate sign up page: Jamorama.com
Affiliate commission rate: Up to 50%.
Cookie length: Unknown.
Description: Jamorama is a 200+ lesson course on learning how to play the guitar, and is very similar to the promotional opportunity offered by Play Guitar above. You can also get paid good affiliate commissions from each referral who successfully signs up with this. program.
4) Sam Ash affiliate program:
Official affiliate sign up page: Samash.com
Affiliate commission rate: 10%.
Cookie length: Unknown.
Description: Samash is part of the Ratuken affiliate program and that happens to be one of the top affiliate networks I recommend to people. Additionally, like Guitar Center above, it also offers access to many different guitars people can promote for a pretty awesome commission (up to 10%) which makes promoting from this network a bit more lucrative (potentially).
5) Amazon Associates:
Official affiliate sign up page: Amazon.com
Affiliate commission rate: 3% (and up).
Cookie length: 1 day.
Description: While it offers the lowest commissions per sale on this list, Amazon still provides a number of things that make it a good program and in this case, it’s:
- Access to a lot of different guitars and accessories.
- A much easier sign up process (and odds of approval).
- A fairly easy ability to create affiliate links.
- Everyone knows about Amazon so it’s very trusted.
Which guitar affiliate program is best to join out of this?
There’s at least 5 options for you right now and I would recommend signing up to all of them to see which ones approve you (not everyone will). Furthermore, each has their own commission structure, and if you just base it on numbers, then #’s 2 and 3 on this list offer the “highest” which are: Play Guitar (60%) and Jaomara (50%).
But keep in mind that these 2 affiliate networks pay for guitar lessons, not actual guitars you sell, and despite offering “lower commissions” in the other networks, if you promote very high ticket guitars, you can get paid more per each sale on the other networks on these two.
For example:
- Making 1 sale on Jamorama at 60% equals making $100 or more.
- Making 1 sale on Samash at 10% for a $4,000 guitar equals making $400 or more.
How to successfully make money with these guitar affiliate networks:
At first glance, it may seem simple:
- Get approved.
- Get the affiliate links.
- Promote them and make money.
In reality though, there is more to making money as an affiliate than just these 3 steps (especially with the last step as that’s the one which requires the most preparation and work).
I’ve spoken to a number of musicians who have wanted to start their own online business selling guitars before (I help people succeed in affiliate marketing) and:
I have often suggested the following things:
1) Start a blog on a specific niche of a guitar (electric, acoustic, and so on).
2) Blog about and provide very high quality reviews on the niche. So if you chose acoustic guitars as the niche, then you would write as many reviews as possible on as many acoustic guitars as possible, even ones you aren’t promoting (because they likely get searches).
You would even review many guitars you don’t own and for that, I have a post on how to do affiliate product reviews when you don’t own them.
3) I also highly suggest making YouTube videos with the guitars that you do own (and promote) as these are usually one of the best ways to profit (see more about how to do affiliate marketing with YouTube).
Above all else, if this is a new business for you, I highly recommend getting training on affiliate marketing with Wealthy Affiliate first. It will not only provide you with all of the ingredients and tools to set this up, but I’ll also help you there once you’re a member.
